The purpose of this work is to assist a job seeker in such a way as to improve the job seekers outcome (employment and social) and to move them closer to independence, with a focus on those at risk of long-term benefit, by offering an option of sustainable self-employment.
As a Work Broker, you will:
- Identify and find the right employment opportunities / vacancies for our Candidates – and one option might be supporting a job seeker into self-employment.
- Have experience in matching candidates to jobs through skills-based matching, experience alignment, or broader life knowledge that might match to open and current vacancies.
- Complete candidate management engagement by having great communication skills while using assessment tools / techniques to identify the right jobs for our candidates across Wellington.
- Bring a solid understanding of what self-employment will require with a focus on supporting clients who are looking to establish a business that meets well-defined criteria. This would require support with developing viable business plans including financial modelling.
- You will work with clients who come from diverse sectors/industry backgrounds and support them towards sustainable employment.
- Understand the wider labour market with insights to inform you on employment options which may include a self-employment option.
- Work collaboratively with our Employment teams to ensure support can be provided with any self-employment recruitment.
What We are Looking For
- A positive, proactive, and results driven person who enjoys engaging with Job Seekers who are looking to be self-employed.
- This is a very busy role and requires someone who comes from an employment focused background along with financial astute, business minded, well organised and comfortable with evaluating business plans.
- You will need to be comfortable analysing budgets, forecasts, and cashflow projections to assess business viability for self-employment options.
- Demonstrated ability to build genuine connections to promote job seekers into sustainable employment.
- Proactive and creative mindset bringing innovative ideas on how to identify employment opportunities that promote better labour market outcomes.
- Excellent communicator—strong verbal and written skills with attention to detail.
- Able to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
