Advisor - Resilience to Organised Crime in Communities (ROCC) | Northland Region - Te Tai Tokerau

We have an opportunity for an experienced and community-minded Advisor to support the Regional Leadership Group with the implementation and development of the Resilience to Organised Crime in Communities (ROCC) initiative across the Northland Region – Te Tai Tokerau.


ROCC is a Cabinet-mandated, cross-agency initiative focused on addressing the social and economic drivers of organised crime in our communities. It combines social and economic interventions with targeted enforcement to reduce harm and promote long-term community wellbeing.


This role offers a chance to make a real difference — connecting agencies, iwi, and community partners to help build resilience, reduce the influence of organised crime, and strengthen whānau and community outcomes.

 

What you’ll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana

 

You’ll play a key role in the coordination and delivery of ROCC activities, including:
•    Supporting and enabling local communities to develop ROCC-aligned initiatives.
•    Providing advice and capability-building support for both existing and emerging community projects.
•    Developing a needs analysis to map current services and initiatives funded within Northland.
•    Working collaboratively with the Regional Leadership Group (RLG), NZ Police, and other key agencies to deliver joined-up social responses.
•    Collating, analysing, and sharing relevant regional data to inform decision-making.
•    Providing coordination and administrative support for the Community Resilience and Whānau Support Fund, ROCC Steering Group meetings, and RLG hui.
•    Supporting the Regional Public Service Commissioner (RPSC) with other regional priorities as required.

 

You’ll be part of a team that works across agencies to achieve outcomes that improve whānau wellbeing and reduce harm in communities.

What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga:

•    Strong relationship management skills and the ability to engage effectively across multiple stakeholders and community groups.
•    An understanding of social sector and community-led approaches to reducing harm and building resilience.
•    Excellent coordination, analytical, and written communication skills.
•    The ability to work collaboratively and confidently in complex, cross-agency environments.
•    A proactive, solutions-focused approach and commitment to MSD’s purpose of helping New Zealanders to be safe, strong, and independent.
