What you'll be doing | Ko te mahi

 

The role will specifically support one of our key priorities – Resilience to Organised Crime in Communities (ROCC) or Hāpori Manawaroa ki Murihiku (HMkM) as it is known in Murihiku Southland.

 

ROCC is a cross-agency initiative led by New Zealand Police, focused on reducing the harm caused by organised crime through prevention, partnership, and community resilience. ROCC is grounded in a community-led, systems-focused approach that brings together government, iwi, hapu, and local partners to address the social, economic, and environmental drivers of organised crime.

 

Police works in partnership with MSD as the fund holder and the Regional Public Service Commissioners as the regional leads to deliver the Community Resilience and Whanau Support Fund (CRWS). This fund enables initiatives that are aligned with the objectives of the ROCC Regional Plans.

 

The Senior Advisor role sits within the Regional Public Service and works closely with the ROCC Senior Advisor and ROCC Coordinator (Police) and the MSD contracts team. The purpose of this role is to support the effective implementation and delivery of the ROCC Regional Plan through the commissioning of initiatives under the CRWS Fund. This includes leading commissioning processes, strengthening relationships with communities and partners, and ensuring effective coordination and oversight of funded initiatives associated with the CRWS Fund.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Provide capability support to Murihiku Southland communities looking to develop HMkM initiatives.
  • Provide relationship and contract management functions for contracted HMkM initiatives.
  • Lead commissioning processes and support associated with the Community Resilience and Whānau Support Fund, local regional group meetings and Murihiku Southland Leadership hui.
  • Build on the Regional ROCC Plan with analysis of funded initiatives through monitoring and evaluating outcomes, identifying gaps or overlaps, and potential future funding opportunities.
  • Provide clear, well-evidenced advice to support planning, prioritisation, and delivery of HMkM initiatives and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with ROCC staff (Southern ROCC Coordinator and Southern Police ROCC Senior Advisor).
  • Work collaboratively across support agencies to help collate and share relevant data and insights.

We are looking for someone who:

 

  • Has experience in relational commissioning approaches and sound contract management skills.
  • Has strong interpersonal and relationship management skills and can work within a community led, regionally enabling approach.
  • Has an ability to identify risks, and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Ability to apply evidence, monitoring, and evaluation to guide decision-making and support community initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Has strong data analysis, research, evaluation and presentation skills.
  • Has good planning and organisation skills.
  • Is resilient and able to stay calm under pressure, demonstrate resourcefulness and takes a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Awareness of Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga.
  • Has the ability to travel as required.

Salary | Utu-ā-tau: $118,288.00 - $143,647.00
