About the role | Mō te tūnga:

As a Strategic Financial Analyst, you will be part of our Strategic Finance Team. This team supports MSD to make informed decisions that are financially sustainable and maximise social outcomes for New Zealanders.


In this role, you will provide analysis, modelling and forecasting to support the development of strategic financial advice. Your work will help inform decisions made by the Leadership Team, senior managers, and governance groups.


You will play an important role in turning data into clear insights, helping the organisation plan ahead and make sound financial decisions.

What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga:

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring:


•    Tertiary qualification (Batchelors degree or similar) in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics 
•    CPA, CFA, CA (qualified or working towards) is desirable
•    Experience in financial or management accounting, ideally within the public sector
•    At least one year’s relevant experience in modelling, quantitative analysis, or a related analytical role
•    Experience developing financial forecasts and building models
•    Experience working with large financial systems (such as Oracle), including extracting and analysing data
•    An understanding of government processes and systems, including the annual Budget cycle (desirable)

 

You will also have:
•    Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work with large data sets, identify key insights, and draw clear conclusions
•    The ability to link analysis to wider business impacts, including operational outcomes
•    Confidence understanding strategic and high-level information
•    The ability to write to a high standard (clear, accurate, concise, appropriate to the audience) 
•    Clear communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas in a simple way
•    Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels
•    Good judgement and an awareness of the wider environment, including political sensitivity
