About Historic Claims
Historic Claims, on behalf of the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) provides an Alternative Disputes Resolution Service (ADRS) to assist claimants who have raised allegations or concerns of abuse or neglect while in State care.
Historic Claims works with claimants to help them understand their past experience in care. We acknowledge and recognise the harm claimants have experienced and take steps to put this right.

About the role | Mō te tūnga
The Records team provides records and file management services to Historic Claims.
The Senior Records Coordinator role includes identifying, sourcing, digitising, describing, and managing the movement of historic records. Historic records are vital to assessing claims, responding to Privacy Act 2020 requests for information, and resolving enquiries about claimants’ experiences in care.
The Senior Records Coordinator takes on complex investigations and may be involved from time to time in exercises to review and strengthen team capability.
The Senior Records Coordinator also supports the induction and development of new Records Coordinators and will be involved in reviewing and creating process guidance documents.

To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- An inquisitive disposition. You will thrive on problem-solving.
- A relevant tertiary qualification, such as information management or social science is desirable.
- Familiarity with navigating and understanding Archives NZ holdings would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated research and investigative experience.
- Demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience.
- Demonstrated experience of developing and presenting guidance material.
- The ability to move between a range of records management processes and systems and prioritise multiple tasks in a busy environment with competing demands.
- Sound understanding of the importance of recordkeeping and obligations under the Public Records Act 2005.
- Exemplary attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build relationships.
- An understanding of appropriate and respectful handling of sensitive personal information.
- Competency working with the MS Office Suite and records management systems.
- The ability to demonstrate empathy and understand client needs, concerns, and priorities.

Salary | Utu-ā-tau: $90,743.00 - $109,980.00
