The Corporate Portfolio (CP) supports MSD’s vision by delivering corporate platform systems, processes, people capability and information that support our organisation and staff to meet the needs of our clients and whānau. This ensures we fulfil our accountabilities to government and other stakeholders. These systems and processes underpin the services we provide to clients and are vital to ensure we can continue to operate effectively in a more complex future.

CP aims to make it easy to do work at MSD by focusing on our people and their experience when engaging with their work. We provide a unified and structured approach to delivering change initiatives across the Corporate, Workforce and Workplace portfolios. Any initiative that requires additional budget or resources above and beyond the BAU team will be managed through CP.

About the role | Mō te tūnga

 

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will partner with the Corporate Portfolio and key stakeholders to identify business needs, document requirements, and support delivery of programme outcomes.

 

You will provide advice, facilitate workshops, and ensure solutions align with organisational priorities and technical constraints.

 

We have a range of initiatives that need progressing and we want your help to give them the right start. You will have direct access to your business stakeholders and the delivery teams you will work with.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Discovery & Facilitation: Run workshops, define problem statements, outcomes, and acceptance measures.  
  • Process & Information Design: Model current and future state; produce ERDs/canonical models for master data; define stewardship, privacy & access patterns. 
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform solution options, decision logs, Options papers 
  • Data Migration & Cutover: Mandatory fields, cleansing rules, migration waves, reconciliations, and evidence packs.  
  • Identify, document, model and validate business requirements  
  • Gather and analyse business processes and rules and identifying opportunities for improvement or automation  
  • Prepare impact assessments and assist with testing  
  • Develop logical/conceptual designs from requirements  
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and clear communication 

  

These are fixed term or secondment opportunities of 6 and 12 months, based in Wellington Central. As we have a range of initiatives, we are looking for 3 suitable candidates who may have some or all of the following attributes and/or experience. What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga

 

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in project environments  
  • SharePoint/M365 IA & taxonomy; content governance and migration planning.  
  • Vendor/tool assessment (build vs buy, scorecards, TCO).  
  • Controls & Compliance Mindset: SoD, approvals, audit trails; risk-based sequencing to derisk ageing systems.  
  • Public sector finance/GL experience (segment design, month end impacts, audit).  
  • ERP/Oracle literacy: Contract/finance modules, posting rules, configuration artefacts. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills  
  • Property/Lease operations (lifecycle, SLAs, indexation, critical dates).  
  • Proficient in the use of Copilot prompting for ideation.  
  • Expertise in requirements management and documentation  
  • Familiarity with public sector processes and governance  
  • Experience in areas of HR, Property, Procurement, Finance, IT, Corporate Services 
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to a senior level 
  • Proficiency with tools such as Word, Excel, Visio, Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint 
  • HR process architecture  
  • AI/analytics product awareness (use case triage, metrics, guardrails, rollback) 
  • Sustainability reporting familiarity (activity data, emissions factors, auditability).
