Senior Advisor, Income Portfolio, Wellington

We’re seeking Senior Advisors to join our Income Portfolio within Service Delivery.
These roles provide a significant opportunity to contribute to the development of future state services for our clients; ensuring continuous improvement of our income support systems, making them easier to understand, and navigate - to provide fair, consistent, accurate and timely support to New Zealanders.
We are looking for people who are energetic, confident, driven to succeed, and have a practical approach to leading and supporting a broad range of exciting business work programmes.
You’ll be part of a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team, and you’ll need to be highly collaborative with others from across the business, including the Delivery Lead, Director and wider stakeholders.
You’ll be involved with different business groups, working to understand and identify their needs and lead solution focused options. We have a complex work programme, so you’ll need to be able to provide high quality, clear advice on business needs in a range of areas.
You will be working as part of an Agile product delivery team. Experience in Agile would be valuable. Having the ability and proven experience to manage a wide range of relationships from the team right through to external stakeholders is expected.
Prior knowledge of our products and services, and the way we successfully delivery these for positive outcomes, combined with the experience and ability to quickly get up to speed with our work would be ideal.
This is a great opportunity to influence the way we develop and deliver products and services to support better outcomes for New Zealanders. This is a hands-on, exciting and fast-paced role, where you will utilise your coordinating, influencing, leadership and delivery skills to ensure changes are made on-time and within budget.
Key accountabilities include:
• Supporting Income Portfolio initiatives for MSD, ensuring alignment to the Ministry’s overall strategic direction, to deliver improved client service and outcomes
• Leading concept development and supporting the delivery of initiatives, ensuring collaboration with key stakeholders and smooth implementation, which improves MSD’s ability to deliver services to clients
• Monitoring and evaluating the progress of initiatives and reporting regularly on any identifiable opportunities/risks
• Prioritising and managing the portfolio work programme to support the strategic direction and outcomes of the portfolio
• Providing high quality advice and expertise within the Income Portfolio and to stakeholders
• Producing high quality written papers, visual A3s and business cases for audiences both internal and external to the Ministry to provide pertinent information and inform decision making
To succeed in this role, you will:
• have experience of working within diverse teams, ability to operate as a lead (senior advisor), to prioritise and support a wide-ranging work programme
• know how to provide advice and analysis of products and services within a complex service organisation and understand service design principles, best practices and standards (including client-centric and holistic design and co-creation)
• use and interpret analytics and insights to improve user experience and drive engagement.
• be a problem-solver, with natural attention to detail and a great team player
• have strong written skills across a wide range of documents to various levels of the organisation
• demonstrate proven experience of operating at a senior level, in a complex environment
Position Description
Salary range: $102,533.00 - $124,402.00
