Principal Information Advisor (Privacy) – Fixed Term/Secondment to June 2025

 

Full time, Fixed Term/Secondment position

 

Location: National Office, Wellington or other location for the right person

 

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Principal Information Advisor with strong Privacy skills to join our Organisational Assurance workstream, which supports the implementation of MSD’s transformation programme, Te Pae Tawhiti.
 

You’ll be part of the Organisational Assurance and Communications (OAC) Business Unit, and specifically working alongside the Information, Security, and Identity Group (ISI), which is one of the largest Information Groups in central government.  ISI offers support and advice for MSD across Information Management, Security, and Privacy domains.
 

 

 

 

What you'll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana

 

You will play a crucial role in establishing capabilities - privacy guardrails, practices and systems requirements - that will be used right across the Transformation Programme.
Based in the Organisation Assurance workstream, you will work as closely with key contacts in Te Pae Tawhiti and ISI to identify needs, develop privacy-enhancing solutions and then get them ready to operate as a service, primarily through the ISI team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

•    Develop a deep understanding of privacy-focused needs and requirements of the Transformation Programme, MSD’s existing guardrails and privacy practices
•    Provide strategic advice on, and designs for, appropriate privacy-related guardrails, including but not limited to controls, practices, privacy-related systems requirements and associated assurance measures
•    Work alongside OA Workstream and ISI colleagues to ensure that capabilities work as a cohesive whole across Security, Privacy, Human Rights and Ethics domains

To be successful in this role, you will have / be:


•    A tertiary degree level qualification and 8-10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a senior advisory or leadership role
•    Strong leadership and relationship skills, able to provide tailored feedback and influence others effectively
•    Ideally you have experience working in significantly sized / complex projects or change programmes
