The Māori, Communities and Partnerships Group is responsible for building capability across MSD to support the aspirations of Māori and connecting and collaborating to build effective partnerships and community approaches that achieve better outcomes for those who most need our support.
The Service and Contracts Management team is responsible for managing a range of contracts with service providers and partners throughout New Zealand.
Te āhua o te tūranga / About the role
In this role, you will actively provide ongoing support and advice to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, leading service development projects with precision and insight. Your focus will be on the Out of School Care and Recreation (OSCAR) programme, community participation, and essential services and programmes for disabled people. You’ll have strong expertise in developing operational policy that can be implemented, with an eye for detail that doesn’t lose sight of the big picture. Tasked with identifying and reporting on impactful national trends and issues, your contribution will help frame the future delivery environment, and ensure that business as usual is maintained from day to day. You’ll enhance the quality and effectiveness of our services, programmes, and practices. Building meaningful relationships will be central to your role, and you’ll be comfortable in managing relationships with external partners to deal with sensitive issues from time to time. You’ll be an important part of fostering an environment that enhances collaboration, capacity, and overall organisational capability within a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako / Skills and experience
• Experience in the social services, health, or education sectors, especially in the development, implementation, and delivery of services or programmes.
• A well-rounded understanding of social wellbeing and service design, with the ability to practically apply this knowledge in the MCP environment.
• Proven expertise in operational policy, the development of commissioning frameworks and processes, and contributing to the development of funding allocation models.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities and experience in project management.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team, managing and contributing effectively to enhance team performance and outcomes.
• A strategic thinker who can see the "big picture" and understand the broader strategic context of projects.
• Able to work with key stakeholders on sensitive, or contentious topics, and maintain honest, ongoing, relationships over the longer-term.
• Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification is desirable.
• Sound knowledge of government processes and direction is essential.

Position Description
Salary range: $120,870.00 - $150,416.00
