About the role | Mō te tūnga

 

The Practice Lead is a key leadership role within the Technology Delivery Practice. Operating within a matrix environment, the Practice Lead is responsible for leading and developing Delivery practitioners while supporting the effective delivery of work across Technology.

 

The role combines people leadership, practice leadership and operational delivery oversight. Practice Leads work closely with delivery practitioners, project and programme leaders, and other practice leaders to strengthen capability, embed delivery standards and support successful delivery outcomes across Technology.

 

As a Practice Lead, you will be the primary people leader for Delivery practitioners, helping them grow their careers, build capability and perform at their best. You will also play an important role in translating practice direction into day-to-day behaviours, ensuring agreed methods, standards and ways of working are consistently understood and applied.

 

This is an opportunity for an experienced delivery leader who is passionate about developing people, improving delivery outcomes and contributing to the ongoing growth and maturity of the Technology Delivery Practice.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Leading and developing people through coaching, performance management, wellbeing support and career development.
  • Building practice capability and maturity by identifying capability needs, supporting recruitment and workforce development, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Embedding practice standards and expectations by supporting practitioners to consistently apply agreed methods, tools and ways of working.
  • Providing delivery oversight and support by helping practitioners navigate risks, issues and constraints, while supporting successful delivery outcomes.
  • Contributing to practice leadership through stakeholder engagement, operational insight and active participation in the ongoing development of the Technology Delivery Practice.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity, consider multiple perspectives, and provide clear recommendations to support decision-making.

You are an experienced delivery leader who is equally passionate about developing people and improving delivery outcomes. You bring strong leadership capability, practical delivery experience and the ability to influence and support others in a complex environment. You enjoy building capability, fostering high-performing teams and helping practitioners succeed while contributing to the growth and maturity of the wider practice.

 

You will also bring:

 

  • Proven experience leading and developing people in a delivery, project or programme environment.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgement, take ownership of outcomes, and work independently through complex delivery challenges.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring and performance leadership capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues, work through ambiguity and provide practical, well-considered recommendations.
  • Experience supporting the successful delivery of complex projects, programmes or portfolios.
  • Ability to build capability and foster high-performing teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and relationship-building skills, including the ability to navigate complex organisational environments and competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative leadership style and a passion for continuous improvement.

Salary | Utu-ā-tau: $138,125.00 - $171,889.00

 

We expect to appoint this position up to $149,636 however a salary offer will be based on the preferred candidates’ skills and experience and our team relativities.
