The Disability Support Services (DSS) Group is responsible for commissioning, funding, and stewarding high-quality services that support disabled people, their families, and whānau. We’re building leadership and management capacity across our teams to deliver both change and business-as-usual effectively.
We work closely with providers, stakeholders, and communities to ensure services are fair, consistent, transparent and sustainable. With a strong focus on performance monitoring, data, and insights, we’re committed to continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making.

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for enabling organisational effectiveness? Join us as the Manager Business Support, where you’ll lead a team delivering high-quality ministerial servicing, planning, reporting, and administrative support across DSS. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to shape how business support functions drive performance, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
In this role, you’ll work closely with senior leaders, the CE’s office, and the Minister’s office to ensure outputs meet public sector standards and expectations. You’ll oversee the coordination of briefings, reports, and correspondence, while embedding best practice and fostering a culture of service excellence.

Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a high-performing Business Support team
- Overseeing ministerial servicing, planning cycles, and organisational reporting
- Driving continuous improvement and innovation in business support processes
- Providing strategic advice and hands-on support to senior leaders
- Ensuring outputs meet government legislative and internal reporting requirements

What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga:
- Proven leadership experience in business support or public sector environments
- Deep understanding of ministerial workflows, Cabinet processes, public sector planning and reporting cycles
- Strong people management skills with a track record of building high-performing teams
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to drive process optimisation and service excellence
- Skilled in risk management, resource planning, and performance monitoring
- Politically astute with sound judgement and organisational awareness
- Committed to embedding Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in decision-making

Salary | Utu-ā-tau: $142,874.00 - $177,798.00
