About the role | Mō te tūnga:
As a Lead Test Engineer in the IST Group, you’ll take ownership of establishing robust, scalable, and effective test automation frameworks for major delivery areas.
You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our testing practices drive quality, reliability, and continuous improvement across MSD’s technology landscape.
This role is permanent full time and is based in Wellington.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of test performance frameworks and approaches for large delivery areas.
- Ensure testing processes and methodologies sufficiently mitigate risks and meet audit requirements.
- Collaborate with QA Practice Leaders, IST peers, and external partners to drive consistent, high quality delivery.
- Establish and monitor metrics and reports to track application/service quality and testing effectiveness.
- Provide strategic guidance and expert advice on testing methods, tools, and process adoption.
- Coach, mentor, and train QA and engineering practice members to grow performance test capability.

What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga:
- Proven experience leading performance test initiatives in complex environments.
- Proven experience leading test automation initiatives in complex technology environments including security.
- Deep knowledge of functional, non-functional, and process testing, including automation tools and frameworks.
- Experience with specialist testing (e.g., integration, data migration, message layer, data warehousing).
- Strong understanding of risk management, defect/release management, and the software development lifecycle.
- Proven stakeholder engagement skills at an organisational level.
- Ability to collaborate and influence across technical and business teams, including external vendors.
- Proven experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing others to build capability and resilience.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Salary | Utu-ā-tau: $139,920.00 - $170,089.00
