The Disability Support Services (DSS) Group is responsible for commissioning, funding, and stewarding high-quality services that support disabled people, their families, and whānau.

About the role | Mō te tūnga:
As Principal Advisor (Records Management), you’ll lead the development of best practice guidance and tools to support disability support providers in meeting their care record keeping obligations.
You’ll work closely with Archives NZ, Ministry of Education, and other partners to develop resources that reflect real-world service environments and legal requirements.
This is a fixed term role ending 30 June 2026 and is based in Wellington.
Key responsibilities include:
•    Provide expert advice on care records management aligned with the Care Records Framework 
•    Lead the design of practical tools and interim guidance for DSS funded providers 
•    Develop and support implementation of training materials to embed responsible records practices 
•    Promote continuous improvement in care records management 
•    Build and maintain strategic partnerships across agencies and sectors 
•    Lead  stakeholder engagement and collaboration.

What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga:
•    Passionate about improving outcomes for care experienced people.
•    Deep specialist knowledge and understanding of care records management, privacy legislation, and documentation standards
•    Familiarity with the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care and the Care Records Framework
•    Experience working with disability support providers, particularly in developing or implementing documentation and information handling practices Ability to create practical tools and guidance for frontline services
•    Proven leadership in stakeholder management and interagency collaboration
•    Strong written communication and influencing skills
•    Experience mentoring team members and fostering continuous learning
•    Knowledge of the disability and social services sector is an advantage
•    Ability to build trust and credibility quickly with diverse stakeholders

Salary | Utu-ā-tau: $122,381 - $152,296
