The DSS Group has been established to ensure fairer access to disability support services in New Zealand, ensuring those with the greatest needs receive quality support services. The DSS business group is comprised of DSS operations and a dedicated taskforce to deliver the DSS Review Programme.
The Group is responsible for the delivery of DSS services to disabled New Zealanders. It also leads the DSS Review programme which will provide the capability uplift required of DSS to deliver better services and outcomes, and ensure the sustainability of DSS into the future, including appropriate commercial management of DSS contracts, procurement and finances.
About the role | Mō te tūnga:
As a Finance Business Partner, you’ll be a trusted advisor to senior leaders, shaping decisions, lifting financial capability, and supporting performance. A key focus for this role is commercial insight and procurement support.
You’ll work closely with Procurement and business leaders to:
• Support sourcing strategies, tender processes and evaluation panels (including AoG arrangements where relevant)
• Provide commercial analysis, cost/benefit and value for money assessments
• Advise on contract negotiations, variations and supplier performance
• Identify financial risks and opportunities, and ensure probity and compliance with public sector requirements
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and month end processes for your portfolio
• Translate financial information into clear advice for non financial stakeholders
You’ll contribute to continuous improvement, help embed Te Ao Māori in our work, and support strong financial stewardship across MSD.
What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga:
We’re looking for someone who has:
• Strong commercial background — experience providing commercial advice and financial analysis to support procurement and supplier management in a large organisation
• Procurement support experience — exposure to tendering, contract management, vendor negotiations and value for money assessments (public sector experience is a plus)
• A relevant tertiary qualification in business or accounting or equivalent experience (Membership of a professional accounting body e.g. CA ANZ or equivalent preferred)
• Sound knowledge of New Zealand public finance practices and accounting principles
• Excellent relationship skills and the ability to explain complex financial information clearly
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and advanced Excel capability
• A collaborative, inclusive approach, aligned to MSD’s values
