About the role | Mō te tūnga:
As the Delivery Methods and Tools Lead, you’ll champion practical, adoptable delivery methodologies that help teams work smarter, build capability across the organisation, and drive meaningful improvement in how we deliver outcomes for New Zealanders.
This role blends coaching, product ownership, and organisational uplift to support adaptable, effective ways of working.
You’ll lead the implementation and continuous improvement of MSD’s delivery methodologies and tools, ensuring they are practical, scalable and aligned to organisational needs.
Working with teams across IST, you’ll help shape and embed adaptable principles that support great delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the adoption, optimisation and continuous improvement of delivery methods and tools, including Jira
- Provide expert coaching, guidance and advice on Agile, Waterfall, Lean, Devops, Iterative and hybrid ways of working
- Design and maintain self-service toolkits, resources and learning materials that build capability across MSD
- Conduct capability assessments, prioritise improvements and support teams to implement change
- Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing, ensuring delivery knowledge is effectively captured and used
- Analyse complex business situations and develop robust recommendations for improvement

What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga:
- Significant experience implementing and leading delivery methodologies in large, complex organisations
- Strong working knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, Lean, Iterative and other delivery frameworks
- Practical experience using Jira and other tools to visualise and manage workflow
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to work in fast moving environments where priorities can shift quickly
- Strong judgement, adaptability and intellectual flexibility
- Skilled at building strong, trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
- Knowledge of the public sector environment, including the responsibilities and expectations of public servants
- Experience supporting professional development and coaching others to build capability
Position Description | He Whakaahuatanga Tūnga:
Salary | Utu-ā-tau: $139,920.00 - $170,089.00
The full salary range for this role is $139,920 – 170,089. We expect to appoint this position up to $161,792 however a salary offer will be based on the preferred candidates skills and experience and our team relativities.
