The Disability Support Services (DSS) Group is responsible for commissioning, funding, and stewarding high-quality services that support disabled people, their families, and whānau. 

 

We’re building leadership and management capacity across our teams to deliver both change and business-as-usual effectively. 

 

We work closely with providers, stakeholders, and communities to ensure services are fair, consistent, transparent and sustainable. With a strong focus on performance monitoring, data, and insights, we’re committed to continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making.

About the role | Mō te tūnga:

 

There are roles across the Data and Evidence team and the Quality Assurance and Improvement team. Our roles contribute to evidence-informed decision making and data driven improvement across DSS. 

 

You’ll work with both internal DSS data, and linked data from across the system, developing analysis, reporting and insights that support operational delivery, policy development, performance monitoring, and public accountability.

 

Depending on the role, you may focus on hands on data analysis and reporting, business intelligence and performance dashboards, or providing strategic advice on data stewardship, governance  and analytics capability.
You’ll work closely with the manager, analysts, advisors, service delivery teams, and external partners, including the disability community, to ensure insights are useful, accessible, and meaningful.

 

Responsibilities may include:

 

  • Extracting, transforming and analysing data using tools like Power BI, Excel, and SQL
  • Designing and delivering reports, dashboards and insights that support operational, policy and strategic decision  making
  • Translating complex data into clear, accessible information for non technical audiences
  • Supporting outcomes measurement, performance monitoring, and reporting across DSS and providers
  • Providing data and analysis to support Official Information Act, Ministerial and Ombudsman requests
  • Applying analytical frameworks, models and critical thinking to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Strengthening quality assurance by documenting team processes, contributing to improved tools and frameworks, and providing peer review and quality control
  • Supporting strategic data initiatives, including data governance, stewardship and system development

What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga:

 

You’ll be curious, collaborative and motivated by using data to make a difference. Depending on the role, you’ll also bring a mix of the following skills and experience such as:

 

  • The ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non technical audiences
  • Proven experience in data and information analysis, statistics and insight development
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets and integrating data from multiple sources
  • Proficiency in tools such as Power BI, Excel (including advanced formulas and Power Query), SQL, SAS, R or Python
  • Experience designing dashboards, reports and visualisations that support performance and outcomes measurement
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and critical thinking skills
  • Experience designing and documenting processes, including process maps
  • An understanding of research, evidence and analysis methodologies, including emerging approaches
  • Experience working in or with the public sector, with knowledge of service delivery, policy or performance contexts
  • Proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross functional teams
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement and operate effectively in a fast paced environment

Salary | Utu-ā-tau: $79,200.00 - $95,873.00
