The Disability Support Services (DSS) Group is responsible for commissioning, funding, and stewarding high-quality services that support disabled people, their families, and whānau.
We’re building leadership and management capacity across our teams to deliver both change and business-as-usual effectively.

About the role | Mō te tūnga:
As a Business Analyst or Senior Business Analyst, you’ll work closely with the Director Shared Services and other leaders to undertake the detailed analysis supporting the full development lifecycle of a programme of work with both positive business process and technology implications.
You’ll coordinate workstreams and provide expert advice on complex issues.
These are true Business Analyst roles within a formal programme with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement across a complex environment.
This Wellington based role is fixed term ending 29 February 2028.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage workstreams, tracking progress and ensuring quality delivery
- Provide high-quality advice and documentation for senior management and Ministers
- Identify and document business requirements and processes
- Develop pragmatic business solutions that balance technical constraints
- Conduct impact assessments and support business application testing
- Represent the Ministry at interagency meetings and build strong networks
- Communicate effectively across IT and business audiences
- Senior Business Analysts will mentor and support other Business Analysts to grow capability

- Experience as a Business Analyst / Senior Business Analyst working in a structured project environment, ideally in government
- Proven ability to scope, assign, and deliver complex work
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent relationship management and communication abilities
- Proficient in tools like Visio, PowerPoint, Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint
- Familiar with public sector environments and strategic business direction
- Creative, adaptable, and emotionally intelligent
- Committed to delivering improvements for clients, whānau, staff, and partners
