Assistant HR Advisor

  • Wellington CBD based
  • Permanent, full-time hours

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Assistant HR Advisor to join our super busy AskHR team. It goes without saying you'll be bright, ambitious, and keen to develop and hone your generalist HR knowledge.

You’ll have the opportunity to be involved in everything from HR queries e.g. position management, parental leave etc to Recruitment duties to drafting and producing employment documents, and responding to our AskHR and Careers email in-boxes.

With the support of HR Advisors and the opportunity to learn from them, you will be responsible for managing, coordinating and responding to the day-to-day transactional and generalist HR related requests our team receives.

The nature of the work means your ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is non-negotiable! This is a challenging, dynamic and rewarding opportunity that will provide you with the necessary exposure to progress your HR career within a supportive HR team. There is real freedom to take responsibility for processes and projects, supporting the team to truly add value and be seen as a trusted advisor.

Ideally your career experience will already include:

  • Sound knowledge of HR practices and employment legislation would be advantageous
  • Previous exposure or an interest in HR / Recruitment would be advantageous but is not as desirable as the ability to bring great energy and commitment to the role
  • A confident verbal communication style with professional writing skills
  • A reputation as a self-starter with a positive demeanour, and the ability to work quickly and be flexible in responding to any situation
  • A proven track record of building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • The ability to multitask a range of activities with impeccable attention to detail
  • Well-developed organisational skills including the ability to prioritise and manage your time effectively

Above all, you’ll have a great work ethic; you will be proactive and willing to roll up your sleeves and get involved. High levels of emotional intelligence will come naturally to you, along with a warm personality with a people centric approach. Most importantly, we are looking for someone with a fun personality and a great sense of humour who will fit in with the stars that sparkle in our existing team.
