This role is all about turning data into useful insights. You’ll help our operational, policy, and management teams – and the wider public – understand what’s happening and why. You’ll work closely with people across MSD, including senior leaders and the Minister’s office, to support decisions that affect New Zealanders every day.
To do well in this role, you’ll need strong technical and analytical skills, a good understanding of MSD (or the ability to learn quickly), and great communication and relationship skills. • Experience with Snowflake SQL – including stored procedures, user-defined functions (UDFs), and Snowflake-specific features.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling – including star schemas, facts, dimensions, grain, and surrogate keys.
• Intermediate Python skills – for scripting, automation and data wrangling.
• Great communication and collaboration skills – able to work with business teams, understand their needs, and translate them into technical solutions.
Relevant additional skills and experience:
• Familiarity with ETL tools like Informatica.
• Experience with Azure DevOps and Git – including version control and branching.
• Exposure to SAS or legacy code migration.
• Understanding of metadata management and data governance.
• Ability to contribute to process improvement and help build documentation standards.
