The Disability Support Services (DSS) Group is responsible for commissioning, funding, and stewarding high-quality services that support disabled people, their whānau. 

 

We’re building leadership and management capacity across our teams to deliver both change and business-as-usual effectively. 

 

We work closely with providers, stakeholders, and communities to ensure services are fair, consistent, transparent and sustainable. With a strong focus on performance monitoring, data, and insights, we’re committed to continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making.

About the role | Mō te tūnga:

 

As the Advisor Business Support, you’ll work closely with the Manager Business Support and wider team of advisors to support all key accountabilities and deliverables for the Business Support group. 

 

You’ll contribute to work projects, represent the programme in various forums, and help drive continuous improvement.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Provide high-quality, timely advice and analysis and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support the team with proactive input and awareness of developments 
  • Translate thinking into practical actions and recommendations 
  • Analyse operational and statistical data to inform planning 
  • Present findings in clear report or memo formats 
  • Communicate initiative updates across the Ministry and other agencies 
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships 
  • Share knowledge and expertise across DSS and the wider organisation

What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga:

 

  • Understanding of key issues facing the Ministry and Government
  • Proven experience working across government and non-government settings
  • Experience in policy development, service design or continuous improvement processes
  • Strong client focus and ability to apply this to your work
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write concise reports at strategic and operational levels
  • Experience supporting a distributed service delivery network
  • Sound judgement and political sensitivity
  • Flexible, adaptable and pragmatic approach

Salary | Utu-ā-tau: $79,200.00 - $95,873.00
