About The Role | Mō te tūnga
As a Regional Labour Market Advisor, you'll be at the forefront of driving positive change across Canterbury by connecting people, industries, and insights.
You’ll support the Regional Labour Market Manager by identifying trends, interpreting insights, and developing tactical responses to the region’s evolving labour market challenges. At the same time, you’ll build strong partnerships with businesses, industry leaders, iwi, community groups, service providers, and government agencies. Your work will be grounded in robust labour market intelligence, enabling you to co-design tailored, practical solutions that lead to sustainable employment outcomes and long-term career pathways for MSD candidates.
The role requires the ability to work confidently with both internal and external partners, while navigating and applying legislative and policy frameworks effectively, ensuring all initiatives are compliant and impactful. You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-performing team that values innovation, strategic thinking, and shared success. Experience navigating the public sector is a bonus, but not essential – we’re looking for someone who brings curiosity, influence, and a drive to make a difference.
What you’ll bring | Ngā pūkenga kauneke
- Relevant tertiary qualification or proven relevant experience in a similar role.
- Sound knowledge of the recruitment and training industries, and up-to-date information on current labour market developments, trends, their subsequent impacts, and opportunities.
- Strong research and report writing skills, and can confidently work with Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability in sourcing, understanding, analysing data; interpreting meaningful trends, and producing reports.
- The ability to build effective partnerships and networks, fostering collaboration and cooperation.
- Planning and organisation skills; the ability to effectively set and manage objectives, deadlines, and priorities.
- Problem-solving, innovation and strategic thinking skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Canterbury’s labour market from an economic perspective and the challenges that landscape presents from both candidates and business perspectives.
