We are looking for someone who shares our passion for getting things right for tamariki and rangatahi to join our team as the Manager of our Upper Hutt site.


As part of the Wellington - East Coast leadership team, your key focus will be on providing leadership and managing the delivery of high quality, child protection services to tamariki, young people and their whānau.


As a driven, inspirational and experienced leader, you will be able to deliver on our vision and purpose.  You'll leverage off this to quickly establish solid working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders by building on inter-agency networks and wider community engagement, including iwi.


Your strong people management experience will allow you to provide clear direction to your team to provide a high quality service to children and their families living in the Upper Hutt region. 


An awareness and commitment to the cultural values and principles of tangata whenua and those from different cultures, is hugely important in this role.  You will be able to build and maintain iwi relationships and ensure that tamariki and whānau stay well connected. Above all else, you'll actively work to keep mokopuna at the centre of everything we do.  


To be successful you need:


  • to be committed to getting things right for tamariki and rangatahi
  • experienced in successfully leading and managing a medium sized team (apx 20 staff), ideally within a social services context
  • have a good understanding and knowledge of te reo me ona tikanga and uphold the principles of the Tiriti o Waitangi (Treaty of Waitangi)
  • to be a collaborative, strengths-based leader with the ability to collaborate within a multi-agency approach
  • to be strong in business planning, financial management, resource allocation and performance monitoring processes
  • to be computer literate with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • a full, clean driver's licence
  • a relevant qualification in health, social work or management.
