Senior Analysts & Analysts - Insights (Permanent, Fixed Term and Secondment positions)



The Insights team at Social Wellbeing Agency is looking for Senior Analysts and Analysts with sound policy or strategy backgrounds to provide social sector decision makers with compelling insights, analysis, and research. 


About you


Ideally you will be a proven and highly experienced Analyst or Senior Analyst with a track record in policy development advice and strategic thinking.  As an articulate and competent communicator, you’ll be comfortable providing sound and balanced analysis to stakeholders and senior management.  We have a strong focus on data and evidence as an Agency, so we are looking for people with strong skills at bringing the best possible evidence into the decision-making process.

Below are the skills and capabilities that we are looking for.  You do not need to be an expert in all of these, we’re open to both specialist and generalist candidates, but we want to see what you can bring to the table from the following areas:

•    Have a broad perspective and have the ability to make informed connections between work areas and issues 
•    The ability to adjust approach to written work to meet the needs of different audiences, taking pride in the accuracy of your work
•    The ability to manage your effort to deliver work to a high standard and on time, both independently and with the support of others
•    Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to effectively engage and collaborate with a wider range of people
•    Knowledge of indigenous models of practice with commitment to delivering to our Māori cultural framework


What will you be doing?


You’ll hit the ground running and be plugged straight into our work programme. We’re a project-based organisation, so there’s always plenty of variety in what we do.  You will work with our team of data scientists and our sector engagement team to commission/undertake research and draw out insights to provide evidence and findings for a social sector decision makers and community partners. You’ll collaborate with subject matter experts inside and outside of government to provide the best advice and shape cross-sector policies.
