What do we do?
The Health, Safety and Security (HSS) team is a unit within the Organisational Assurance and Communications business group focused on ensuring the overall integrity of MSD’s operations.
The health, safety, security, and wellbeing of staff, clients and the public is a priority, and everyone at MSD is accountable for ensuring this.

The national Health, Safety and Security team comprises three functional teams: Strategy & Risk, Technical Advisory and Operations.
The teams work together cohesively to:
- lead the ongoing maturity in health, safety, security and wellbeing
- ensure relationships are developed to effectively manage health, safety, security and wellbeing across the Ministry
- manage the Safety Management System at MSD
- contribute to health, safety, security and wellbeing data analysis, intelligence gathering and reporting
- ensure health, safety, security and wellbeing risks are understood and managed
- ensuring there is ongoing compliance with HSS legislation and policy.
What will you do?
The Manager Health, Safety and Security (HSS) Operations has a strong leadership focus on developing relationships and partnering to provide guidance and advice to support best health, safety, security and wellbeing practice within the organisation, co-ordinating and supporting the effective response to security incidents and health related events.
The role leads a team of regionally based Senior Advisors delivering Ministry-wide health, safety, security and wellbeing programmes and initiatives to enhance HSS practices across the Ministry’s work environments that range from corporate office environments to client service offices and off-site locations.
You will be responsible for the identification of health, safety, security and wellbeing requirements of regional managers and staff and the implementation of HSS tools and frameworks to support the effective delivery of Ministry services.
About You
Our ideal candidate will be a proven senior leader, having operated at an enterprise level in large-scale organisations and have significant experience in operational leadership, change management, and risk/threat assessments. The ability to apply effective incident management practices to eliminate or minimize risks and ensure people get the right support when incidents occur are critical.
You will demonstrate your strengths in strategic planning and technical expertise in HSS, leveraging the capability and expertise of the wider HSS group and facilitating engagement with regional staff and unions.
You will have proven relationship management skills at all levels within the organisation and with external stakeholders and contractors.
You will be an exceptional people leader, building positive team culture by actively participate in knowledge sharing, able to manage planning and performance and enable managers to deliver their accountabilities and commitments to their staff.
You will be a thought leader for Health, Safety and Security and will oversee the continuous development and improvements to HSS systems and processes.

Position Description
Salary range: $109,999.00 - $164,999.00
