Lead Systems Advisor - Wellington, Christchurch or Auckland



About the Role


The Lead Systems Advisor is part of the Legal Operations Team. In the MSD context, Legal Operations is also responsible for the Legal Compliance program across MSD, reviewing and improving specified MSD policies / guidelines, and regularly reporting to MSD Governance Committees.


You will provide support to the Chief Legal Advisor and Legal Operations Manager and work collegially with Team Managers and Principal Lawyers to deliver the Legal Operations work programme. 


Key element of this role will include:

•    Providing intellectual and strategic thought leadership for Legal Operations generally 
•    Being the key advisor to the Legal Leadership Group, making sound management decisions and provide advice, proposals and solutions at high levels
•    Exercising leadership for the Operations function, overseeing the Operations workflow and provide coaching
•    Work collaboratively with a wider team that include other MSD functions, other Government legal teams, the legal profession, and other key stakeholders



To be successful in this role, you will be/have: 

•    Sound knowledge and experience in the theory and practice of Legal Operations and Legal Compliance
•    curious, analytical and an eye for detail
•    experience designing and delivering complex systemic change in a complicated environment, supported by highly developed organisational and environmental awareness and acumen
•    strong research and writing skills and be able to see the “big picture”
•    Well-developed and proven analytical skills, the ability to provide clear advice on complex issues 
•    A proven record in establishing, building and maintaining effective and cohesive working relationships and working collegially with managers and staff at all levels
•    Advanced IT skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, Visio and maximizing technology to best effect. 
•    Substantial experience in driving continuous improvement to systems, processes and tools lifting system performance and delivery
•    A Law degree, or other relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a legal practice

The Lead Systems Advisor has a salary range of $100,014 to $125,018 dependant on experience.
