Infrastructure Architect

 

The IT Infrastructure & Services group design, deliver and support the IT infrastructure that help New Zealanders help themselves be safe, strong and independent through robust and relevant ICT systems.
We are looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Architect to join our existing Solution Design and Delivery team. Someone who is keen to be involved with not just our extensive and enterprise scale technology portfolio, but also help us maintain and improve our infrastructure services to support modern IT operating environments.

 

About the role: 
This is an interesting and exciting role, as you provide valued contributions to improve our Infrastructure Architect practice. Your previous architecture knowledge and experience will bring knowledge of what works and what doesn’t and help us adopt new methods for the team to achieve its goals.


Working with a broad team of highly motivated Technical Designers, Infrastructure, Enterprise and Solutions Architects you will be responsible for;

 

  • Support our Product Management across multiple products and services, 
  • Developing, enhancing and renewing the infrastructure technology strategies, roadmaps, design methodologies and practices,
  • Working in partnership with the Enterprise Architect & IT Applications teams to set the technology direction for Infrastructure Services and the wider IT team,
  • Define the success criteria for product features, and assist in sequencing of work delivery.
  • Carry out options analysis and create technical solutions that are secure and meet agreed patterns, 
  • At times take a lead role across other Architects and Designers to help deliver required solutions, and 

 

Your role will be a leader in the strategy and future of the Ministry’s infrastructure services, with significant opportunities for growth and development within one of the largest IT infrastructures in the country. With our new steps into modern delivery methods, such as the Scaled Agile Framework, we provide a unique and rewarding working environment.

 

Skills and experience that are essential for the role include;

  • Architecture, design and options analysis,
  • Working knowledge of SAFe for Agile,  
  • Cross-functional integration and negotiation,
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal 
  • Experience in a commercial environment and in the creation of IT infrastructure strategies and technology roadmaps, and
