About the Crown Secretariat for the Historical Abuse Inquiry

The Government has recently established the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions (the Royal Commission).

The Royal Commission will involve all social and justice Crown agencies involved with children, young people and vulnerable adults in care over the next five years and beyond.  Crown agencies have begun to collectively prepare to support the Royal Commission, once it begins its investigations in 2019.

Social service and justice Chief Executives have agreed to a joined up approach and are establishing the cross-government Crown Secretariat for the Historical Abuse Inquiry (the Crown Secretariat) to lead the Crown’s response to, and engagement with, the Royal Commission.

About the Role

This is a unique, strategic opportunity to lead high profile policy work on a cross agency programme that is a priority for the Government.  The Chief Advisor will work closely with the Director of the Crown Secretariat to deliver the cross agency work programme and manage the Secretariat.

You’ll lead engagement with government agencies, broker and convene cross-agency working groups bring together expertise and knowledge and develop networks at a senior level. You’ll advise and influence political representatives across diverse and politically sensitive government priorities.

You’re probably already in a principal advisor role and want to step up into a role with more autonomy to lead, influence and impress.  You may already be a leader in your field but want experience leading work across the system or multiple agencies.  We’re looking for a proven high performer and team player who can drive this significant programme of work to success and results.
