Advisor Governance Team - Fixed term / secondment 12 months

About the role:
We are looking for a trusted and capable team member to provide core secretariat support to the Oranga Tamariki Leadership Team that focuses on minute taking and meeting preparation for weekly governance meetings.  


You will be in a privileged position to be at the Leadership Team table as we transform how we care and protect children and young people.  You will understand the importance of accurately capturing key discussion points, decisions and direction while maintaining the confidentiality of the discussions you hear.You will have experience in, or have the interest to develop, the skills needed to create purposeful agendas and capture concise summaries of conversations to support action and reflection. 


You will work closely with the Governance Co-ordinator and a Senior Advisor to shape and deliver governance services to Oranga Tamariki.  While focused on immediate meeting secretariat support, the role plays a significant part in sharing information with the Governance Team that stretches beyond minute taking.


The placement is fixed term as we consider the best way to support organisational governance. 


The role is suited to an advisor who wants to develop skills in governance, understand what goes into decision making within an organisation, and develop political / business acumen capability. 

To be successful in this role you will:
•    Be able to maintain discretion of hearing discussions at the Leadership Team level.
•    Have some experience with minute taking with a desire to learn or apply your skills to produce organisational Leadership Team style minutes.
•    Have the ability to follow complex conversations, where you may not be familiar with the subject matter, and synthesise conversations to concise summaries.
•    Have attention to detail, producing high quality, accurate and well formatted documents.
•    Be able to build trust and confidence with senior leaders.
•    Be comfortable hearing sensitive information about the care and protection of tamariki .
•    Be comfortable working in a dynamic environment where the needs of the customer change and the team develops how it works.
