About the role
 
The Learning and Continuous Improvement Group manaaki our frontline people to grow curiosity, capability and confidence, and our people leaders within this structure are a key role in enabling this to happen.
 
You will lead a team of Capability Developers, who deliver learning, capability coaching, support and advice to our front-line people.  This unit was established in July 2020 and has been pioneering different ways of working and thinking, so we are looking for someone who can continue in this trailblazing way.   Working closely alongside the site and regional operational leadership team, you’ll continue to breathe life into Te Pae Tawhiti, and the strategic direction of MSD. 
 
The role is suited to confident leaders who understand adult learning in the workplace and coaching for the right behaviours. The role will also call upon some serious brain power about current trends in learning, development and how to continuously make things better.
 

 

An overview of your responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and equip your team of Capability Developers for success
  • Navigate your Capability Developers through their transition into the new role, structure and operating model 
  • Ensure your Capability Developers are effective in applying the new ways of working - Our front-line people will be counting on your Capability Developers, so you’ll need to motivate and mentor your team to achieve their full potential
  • You’ll have oversight of implementing continuous improvement strategies, so you’ll need to ensure your team are looking at all the opportunities to improve both our people and our clients experience  
  • Work alongside our Manager Capability leaders and Service Delivery leaders who will be your key collaboration partners in this role. Together, you’ll need to brainstorm business, capability needs and strategy
  • Enhance the learning experience and development opportunities for Capability Developers that ultimately deliver positive learning outcomes for our front-line people

 


Your skills and experience:

 

  • Proven people leadership experience or senior level experience in a learning delivery function, ideally within a large and complex environment
  • You hold a relevant Tertiary Qualification  
  • You can demonstrate a solid understanding of learning principles and practices
  • You have proven experience in the application of continuous improvement strategies (in other words, how you have continuously made something better)
  • We expect this is going to be a busy role, so you’ll need to be highly organised and be able to manage your time efficiently
  • As we said, this is going to be a busy role, so you’ll need to be entirely comfortable (and smart) with delegating tasks to meet deadlines
  • A proven ability to enable people to perform to their very best by getting the work done but also have fun along the way
