Casual Family Home Reliever & Resource Worker Roles - New Plymouth

We are keen to hear from you 

  • if you have experience working with young people to realise their full potential,
  • supported a child or young person through a difficult time,
  • guided your own children or another young person from adolescence to adulthood,
  • bring a high level of resilience and motivation.

Then you already have skills to work alongside our social workers to make a difference for children and young people who need some special support for a few critical months in their lives.

These roles form part of a casual pool of staff. The work is as and when required. From time to time they provide short or long term support for our Family Home Caregivers, who work hard to keep our children and young people safe.

The casual pay rate is $20.55 per hour for each role. For work engagement’s that require day and night-time attendance, the awake and sleeping hours are paid at the same hourly pay rate. 

The work involves a variety of tasks including

  • day to day care of children and young people,
  • providing emotional support to vulnerable children,
  • coordinating transport to and from appointments and activities,
  • working in an Oranga Tamariki family home providing meal preparation and maintaining a comfortable nurturing environment. 

You will need to have a

  • passion for working and supporting children and young people,
  • positive attitude and enthusiasm for your work,
  • proven experience in caregiving, community work or working with young people, 
  • full clean New Zealand driver's licence is a must.
