Jobs and Skills Hubs are part of the suite of MSD employment focused services with the specific mandate of promoting and supporting the construction industry. The Jobs and Skills Hub in Gisborne will support the Tairāwhiti region with recruitment and training activities related to the recovery from Cyclone Gabrielle.

 

As a Youth and Community Facilitator, you’ll play a key part in the wider Jobs and Skills Hubs working alongside a variety of key stakeholders. You will be a key pillar for a ‘one stop shop’ service approach to industry.

What you’ll do | He aha tāu e mahi ana

 

You'll be focused on developing and leading initiatives to provide employment related experiences that will support the long-term sustainable outcomes of increasing the number of youth and people in your local community entering and being retained in the construction and infrastructure industry and related trades.

 

This role will work closely with schools, community groups, training providers, local marae and educators to identify which of their people would benefit from exposure to building and construction pathways. Because of these relationships, there will be opportunities to raise the profile of the sector with educators in schools and broaden students’ awareness of the multiple pathways available to them, leading to increased numbers of students seeking industry exposure while still at school.

 

This role will engage in the development of youth ready strategies, processes and exposure opportunities that set up employers and youth for a mutually beneficial employment related experience.

In the role you will also be able to connect with community organisations and promote construction as a sustainable career pathway.

What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga:

 

  • Proven experience in supporting and navigating people on their pathway into employment
  • Experience in youth development, Māori and Pasefika engagement, education, or community support
  • Strong relationship management skills; builds and sustains relationships through respect for individuals, open communication and displaying sensitivity towards people
  • Ability to engage well with young people and people in the community while being comfortable collaborating with and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Understanding and ability to uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Passion for youth successfully accessing and thriving in the workplace
  • Confidence in facilitating in a range of contexts
  • Intermediate computer skills

 

Part of the role is travelling through the region using Ministry vehicles, so a full NZ clean driver’s licence without restrictions is required.

Salary | Utu-ā-tau: $103,815.00 - $125,958.00
