Investigator Fraud Intervention Services – Canterbury Fraud Team


Canterbury Region – based in Christchurch


We are seeking to appoint an Investigator to our Fraud Intervention Services Canterbury Region team.


The functions of this position include:

  • Fraud Prevention and Detection
  • Investigation and prosecution of client fraud activities
  • Maintaining and developing understanding, commitment and accountability for the management of client fraud activity
  • Contributing to Ministry outcomes within the region by working collaboratively across the Service Delivery operational pillar

A sound working knowledge of Work and Income products with extensive face to face interviewing experience would be a significant advantage.  Experience in a compliance role, involving investigation and prosecution of offences, would be relevant, though not essential as full training will be provided.


You will need to be self-motivated, well organised and have a commitment to achieving personal and team goals while operating with the highest of ethical and professional standards.


You need to have:

  • Ability to interpret and apply appropriate policy and legislation in relation to fraud prosecutions, Ministry products and services, including student and housing entitlements
  • Risk awareness
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and interviewing expertise

A full driver’s license and a willingness to travel to fulfil work requirements are essential.  Occasionally overnight travel may be required.
