Mō te tūnga | About the role: 


Join our policy team to work on interesting and challenging policy issues, where you will be responsible for providing policy advice to help make New Zealand an inclusive and non-disabling society.


We have a busy work programme ahead, with opportunities to work on:

 

  • the refresh of the New Zealand Disability Strategy
  • implementing the Government’s response to the recommendations made by the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
  • leading and contributing to other cross-Government policy processes to improve outcomes for disabled people

 

We offer work that will develop your policy and analytical skills , and training opportunities to keep lifting the quality of our policy advice. 


There may be opportunities to move between teams within the Ministry to help develop a broad range of skills and experience, and to support the management of our work programme.  

 

 

Mōu | About you: 


As a Senior Policy Analyst you will:

 

  • be an experienced policy professional with a strong understanding of the New Zealand government sector
  • competent in navigating complex policy problems and making sense of complex systems
  • competent navigating Cabinet and Ministerial decision-making processes
  • confident supporting team members through collaboration, quality assurance and coaching
  • have well developed analytical and writing skills and understand how to apply these skills through policy development processes
  • bring a range of policy skills you can apply in a disability policy context
  • have or be ready to gain understanding of the diverse lived experiences of disabled people and use these to inform policy development processes
  • bring, or be keen to improve, knowledge and experience of te ao Māori and te Tiriti o Waitangi and understand how to apply this to policy and legislative work, and
  • enjoy working in an inclusive environment where different and new perspectives are valued.

 

To undertake this role successfully you will either be a disabled person, or be able to establish credibility and trust with the disability community.

Salary Range: $112,372 - $136,429
