Mō te tūnga | About the role: 


Whaikaha will be launching a summer internship programme for disabled students and graduates, with some government agencies participating in the pilot.

As the Advisor Employment Pathways, you’ll work closely with the Programme Lead to bring this groundbreaking initiative to life.


You’ll play a key role in:
 

  • Supporting the design and delivery of a summer internship programme across government agencies.
  • Promoting the internship to disabled students/grads and engaging them throughout the recruitment and placement process.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to champion accessibility and inclusion.
  • Supporting pastoral care and organising learning and development activities for interns.
  • Delivering a great experience for interns and government agencies by ensuring systems, processes and events run smoothly.
     

This role is Fixed term until 31 March 2026.

 

 

Mōu | About you:
 

We’re seeking someone who brings a mix of project skills, lived or learned experience in disability inclusion, and a passion for equity.

 

Ideally, you’ll have:

 

  • Experience as a graduate or intern in the public sector and/or working with tertiary students/graduates.
  • Strong project coordination or programme support experience.
  • Good cultural intelligence of te ao Māori, with experience working with diverse communities including Deaf, disabled, tāngata whaikaha Māori, neurodivergent, and Pacific people.
  • Exposure to recruitment, learning and development, and/or talent programmes.
  • Great communication and relationship-building skills.
     

To undertake this role successfully you will either be a disabled person, or you will be able to establish credibility and trust with the disability community.

Salary Range: $89,622 - $108,622
