Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex transformation projects within our Wellington Transformation Office. You will manage project plans, budgets, resources, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring quality outcomes that align with strategic objectives. Reporting to the Director Transformation, you’ll provide coaching and mentoring to build project delivery capability across the agency.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and deliver major projects and programmes of change.
- Manage budgets, risks, issues, and ensure governance compliance.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Apply best practice project management methodologies (PMI, Agile, Waterfall).
- Drive change management and support continuous improvement.

- 5+ years’ project management experience, preferably in public service or complex transformation programmes.
- Skilled in multiple project management frameworks and Better Business Case development.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and adapt to change.
- Knowledge of Mātauranga Māori and tikanga is valued.
- Relevant tertiary or technical qualification.

Band 18: $126 905 - $149 300 Based on skills and experience.
