Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

 

We are hiring both Policy Analysts and Senior Policy Analysts to join our Policy & Insights team. These roles play a vital part in delivering SIA’s work programme through high-quality, evidence-based advice that informs decisions and contributes to better wellbeing outcomes across Aotearoa.

 

As a Policy Analyst, you will:

 

  • Support the development of policy advice through research, data analysis, and collaboration.
  • Contribute to cross-agency projects and internal strategic discussions.
  • Build understanding of social sector issues and support implementation of the Social Investment Fund.

 

As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will:

 

  • Lead complex policy projects and manage delivery timelines.
  • Provide strategic and future-focused policy advice that shapes investment decisions.
  • Guide and mentor other analysts, contributing to team capability and thought leadership.

 

He kōrero mōu | About you

 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in public policy, social sciences, economics, or a related field.

 

Policy Analyst:

 

  • Some experience providing policy advice (preferably in the public sector).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of public policy processes and government systems.
  • Willingness to develop cultural capability in te ao Māori.

 

Senior Policy Analyst:

 

  • Significant experience in strategic policy development at a senior level.
  • Ability to lead complex projects and influence cross-sector stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and mentoring capabilities.
  • A deep understanding of government policy-making and decision processes.

 

Utu ā-tau | Salary

 

  • Policy Analyst: Band 16 – $86,850 to $122,611
  • Senior Policy Analyst: Band 17 – $104,884 to $148,073
