Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

 

As Manager Risk, Assurance and Governance, you’ll play a pivotal leadership role in delivering risk management, assurance processes, and governance oversight across the Social Investment Agency (SIA) and the Social Investment Fund (SIF). You will also act as the Chief Privacy Officer, ensuring compliance with privacy legislation and obligations.

 

You’ll lead a high-performing team, provide strategic and operational advice to senior leaders, and shape key accountability documents and processes. From risk strategy and internal audits to board governance and disaster preparedness, your influence will be felt across the entire organisation.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Lead and evolve the Risk, Assurance and Governance function to align with SIA/SIF’s strategic direction.
  • Develop and implement robust risk and governance frameworks.
  • Act as Chief Privacy Officer, ensuring privacy obligations are met.
  • Oversee internal audits, risk assessments, and business continuity plans.
  • Lead governance functions, including board secretariat support and Select Committee reviews.
  • Produce key accountability documents such as Strategic Intentions and Annual Reports.
  • Provide people leadership—supporting, developing, and enabling your team to succeed.

You will be an experienced leader with deep expertise in risk management and governance—ideally within the public sector. You’ll be confident advising in complex environments, politically astute, and a strategic thinker who leads with integrity and inclusion.

 

Key skills and attributes:

 

  • Senior-level experience in risk and governance
  • Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and communication
  • Proven leadership in dynamic, fast-paced settings
  • Experience with audit planning and risk strategy
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Self-aware, inclusive, and committed to continuous development

Band 20: Min $167 790  Mid 197 400  Max $236 800
