Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

 

We’re seeking an experienced and strategic finance leader to oversee the Social Investment Fund (SIF) and help shape how New Zealand invests in better outcomes for its people.

 

As the Director of Finance, you’ll work closely with our Chief Executive and senior leaders to ensure our investment strategy delivers meaningful, measurable outcomes for priority communities. You'll bring strong investment, financial, and performance expertise to lead the design and execution of the SIF, provide strategic advice, and collaborate across government to promote a social investment approach.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Lead development and evaluation of the Social Investment Fund strategy and performance.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and reporting to drive agency goals.
  • Collaborate across government to remove barriers to social investment.
  • Oversee reporting, compliance, and financial systems for SIA and SIF.
  • Manage a high-performing team and contribute to cross-agency initiatives.

  • Proven experience in strategic financial leadership and investment frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experienced team leader with a collaborative and adaptive style.
  • Knowledge of social investment principles and public sector dynamics.
  • Understanding of Mātauranga Māori and te ao Māori is an advantage.

 

Utu ā-tau | Salary

 

Band 21: Min $196,690 Midpoint $231,400 Max $277,680 based on relevant skills and professional experience.
